The foundation determines how a building transfers its loads to the ground. Understanding the site early is essential to creating a stable and durable structure.

Full Description
Long before walls rise above the ground, a building depends on something that most people will never see.
Its foundation.
Foundations are responsible for transferring the weight of a structure into the ground while maintaining stability over time. Their design is closely connected to the conditions beneath the site, which means there is no universal foundation solution suitable for every project.
Soil composition, groundwater, site topography, building loads, climate, and neighboring structures can all influence the approach.
A relatively small residential building on stable ground may require a very different foundation system from a large commercial structure built on challenging soil conditions.
This is why site investigation is such an important early stage of construction.
Understanding the ground before construction begins allows engineers to assess potential risks and select an appropriate structural strategy. Skipping or underestimating this stage can lead to complications later, when changes are much more difficult and expensive to make.
Foundation construction also requires careful coordination. Excavation needs to account for site access, drainage, temporary support, and the relationship with surrounding structures. Reinforcement, concrete placement, waterproofing, and curing all need to be carried out correctly.
Water deserves particular attention. Poor drainage or inadequate waterproofing can create problems that may not become visible until much later in the life of a building.
A strong foundation is therefore not simply about using more concrete or deeper structures. It is about understanding the relationship between the building and the ground beneath it.
At DETAL, every construction project begins with an understanding of its physical context. The foundation is not treated as an isolated technical element, but as the first part of a complete structural system.
What happens below ground determines much of what becomes possible above it.
